The West African E Library Collaborative (WAELC) Working Group at Duke—a multidisciplinary collaborative approach with experts in digital anthropology, cultural anthropology, digital humanities, information science, open access, data analytics and knowledge network design from Duke University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Kansas, Obafemi Awolowo University, and the Knowledge Exchange Research Group—is studying West African universities’ usage of open access resources, and institutional repositories. This research will support the development of a pilot open access education platform and institutional repository at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria with plans to expand research to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
